"Sometimes I dream I've gotten rid of my hips, and buttocks, and legs. But I'm not really that crazy. All that really bothers me is what lies in-between... so utterly useless it's spine-chilling." How do you live with a secret? How do you live with genitals that were chosen for you, surgically reconstructed at birth so they would comply with the norm? How do you shape your identity, with that difference? 27-year-old M lives in France, where intersexuality is still seen as a pathology that needs to be treated and repaired. This integral part of her is taboo. To break the silence, M answers an ad placed by 25-year-old Deborah, born intersexed herself, who's looking for first-hand stories about intersexuality for the dissertation she's writing for her gender studies degree, at the University of Lausanne in Switzerland. They begin a correspondence that will radically change both their lives. The film looks at the ways intersex people work to reclaim their bodies and shape their identities
